Voice Studio of Melanie Whitney - Professional Vocal Instruction for All Voice Users
Congratulations on your decision to study voice! Singing should be fun and rewarding but can sometimes be frustrating and confusing. My job is to eliminate the frustration and confusion by teaching you both the art and science behind obtaining a good vocal technique. I am committed to helping each of my singers understand the many components of the voice and how to use them properly so each can sing with confidence, control, style, and power. I teach all styles and all age groups and can help you address issues such as good tone production, range extension, projection, vibrato, breath support, breath control, song interpretation, sight singing, stage presence, etc.
I am a member of NATS (the National Association of Teachers of Singing). I have a BM in Music Education with a special focus on vocal pedagogy from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, NJ. I have additional training in the field of vocology (diagnosing and correcting vocal faults) from the voice institute of speech-language pathologist and singing voice specialist Dr. Anat Keidar. Because of my interest and training in diagnosing and correcting vocal faults, I have been able to "fix" the voices of singers who have not been able to find success with other voice teachers. I also work with people who would like to find a more productive and healthy speaking voice. In addition to my private studio teaching, I have been directing elementary, middle, and high school choral ensembles and teaching music theory for the past seven years.  I just recently left my position at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH in order to pursue my studio teaching full time.   Instructing vocalists is my passion and your vocal success is extremely important to me.
